V1 Named after German statesman Otto von Bismarck. The German battleship "Bismarck":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_battleship_Bismarck as a shipgirl in Kantai Collection.

She wears a bottomless gray, black and red uniform which slightly changes after each remodels based on her historical paintjobs which features a breastplate, thighhighs, detached sleeves as well as a peaked cap.

She embodies (?) the ideals of the Aryan race with her blonde hair, blue eyes and tall stature.

Normally, she has a dignified but haughty personality but artists tend to give her a silly, dorky personality similar to Nagato/"Nagamon":/pools/8242. She is also given the tag "Big Akatsuki (kancolle)" for these same reasons. As a target for an unhealthy obsession from Prinz Eugen (kancolle) due to their roles in real life. Bismarck also acts like an oblivious senior to her junior's affection. She is also depicted as being traumatized by her real life fate, especially when her nemesis is present.

She is the first Kriegsmarine vessel introducted into the game along with Z1 Leberecht Maass and Z3 Max Schultz.

She is also the only ship-girl with a third remodel which is an actual upgrade rather than a ship class change (like the Chitose-class). Her "drei" form gives her the ability to launch torpedoes. This refers to Tirpitz's own modifications which included the addition of torpedo launchers. She never received those modifications, having sunk early in the war.

The historical Bismarck's best known action was the (Battle of the Denmark Strait) on 25 May 1941, in which her and Prinz Eugen were engaged by the Royal Navy. However, they managed to fend them off, famously detonating the magazines of HMS Hood in the process. This defeat prompted Royal Navy to launch a manhunt campaign against Bismarck, who had been ordered to head to occupied France due to the damage suffered during the battle.

On 28 May 1941, 3 days after the sinking of the Hood. Bismarck suffered a hit her propulsion system from a biplane torpedo bomber Fairey Swordfish launched from HMS Ark Royal, which allowed British battleships HMS King George V, HMS Rodney, heavy cruisers HMS Norfolk, HMS Suffolk, and destroyers Cossack, Sikh, Maori, Zulu and Polish destroyer ORP Piorun (the latter repeatedly flashing "I AM A POLE" to her via signal light) to catch up with and ultimately sink her. On the morning of May 27, at 0847 hours, HMS Rodney, followed quickly by King George V, opened fire on Bismarck, which had been more or less completely immobilized by this point, by 0931, all of Bismarck's guns had been silenced and she had been reduced to floating wreck incapable of fighting back. Ultimately Bismarck started to capsize around 1035 hours and disappeared beneath the waves a few minutes later with few survivors.
