V7 The Ascenticons are a pre-war political faction on Cybertron within the [[Transformers]] franchise. Featured in [[IDW_Publishing]]’s 2019 comic continuity, this faction was founded by the philosopher Termagax (among other occupations), and later converted into the militaristic [[Decepticon]]s after [[Megatron]] gained leadership of it.

The Ascenticons believed in self-determination and freedom, ignoring traditions of the past in order to shape their own lives, and abandoning the restrictions on Cybertron created by the Nominus Edict.

The ideals of the faction were exploited and warped when Megatron gained leadership. He shared the ideals of Termagax, who was his mentor, but took a far more antagonistic, violent, and militant approach to reaching his goals. He would reach his goals, even if by mass deception.

Brand new characters of this faction featured in IDW’s 2019 comics include Kaskade and Lowload and Wirespike.
