V3 While all asphyxiation is technically suffocation, for the purposes of this tag suffocation refers to the blockage of the mouth and nose by an item that does not have to be held in place. Examples of this would be tape, a shower cap or a bag taped in place.

Also can refer to being trapped in an airless space, such as a vacuum chamber or in outer space.
