Shimada is a type of [i]nihongami[/i], or Japanese hairstyle. During the Edo period, this was a hairstyle commonly worn by young women. Hair is gathered together at the crown of the head, and a small part of of the bun is sectioned to point outwards. Normally worn with [[kanzashi]] or other [[hair_ornament]]s.
