The first installment in the dark souls series and second overall in the [i]souls[/i] game series by [[fromsoftware]] and published by Bandai Namco. Released in 2011. A action RPG, the game takes place in the kingdom of Lordran, where players assume the role of the [[chosen_undead]] character who begins a pilgrimage to discover the fate of their kind. It is a spiritual successor to [i][[demon’s_souls]][/i], and spawned two sequels.
