[b]Formula One[/b], also known as [b]Formula 1[/b] or [b]F1[/b] and referred to officially as the [b]FIA Formula One World Championship[/b], is the highest class of single-seater auto racing sanctioned by the [i]Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile[/i] (FIA). The "formula", designated in the name, refers to a set of rules with which all participants' cars must comply. The F1 season consists of a series of races, known as [i]Grands Prix[/i] (from [[French]], originally meaning great prizes), held throughout the world on purpose-built circuits and public roads. h4.
