[i]Dragon Quest IX: Hoshizora no Mamoribito[/i] (ドラゴンクエストX 目覚めし五つの種族オンライン) (Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies) is the ninth game in the [i][[Dragon Quest]][/i] series of RPGs. It was released on the [[Nintendo DS]] in Japan in 2009, and in the rest of the world in 2010.

It was the first game of the [i]Dragon Quest[/i] series to feature multiplayer gameplay, and the first to be initially released (rather than as a port) for a handheld console.
