The first in the long-running [i][[Dragon Quest]][/i] series of video games. Although a very simple game by modern standards, it did establish many of the modern tropes of console RPGs. It was originally released in 1986 for the [[Famicom]], and brought to North America in 1990, though its name was changed to [i]Dragon Warrior[/i] in that market due to a previous copyright on the [i]Dragon Quest[/i] title.
