A flower of the Hydrangeaceae family native to southern and eastern Asia. The tell-tale flowerheads come out any time from early spring to late autumn, with colors influenced by the pH level of the soil. Called "ajisai" (アジサイ or 紫陽花) in Japanese (紫陽花 refers specifically to [i]Hydrangea macrophylla[/i]). h4.
