The [b]A-10 Thunderbolt II[/b] is a straight-winged twin-tailed subsonic [[jet]] that entered service with the US Air Force in 1977. It is powered by two turbofans mounted in pods above the fuselage. Designed exclusively for close air support, the single-pilot Warthog can carry copious amounts of bombs, rockets, and missiles, but its best-known features are its [[GAU-8]] Avenger cannon and its ability to tolerate battle damage and remain operational. h4.
