Haruna (榛名, named after Mount Haruna) is the third of the four Kongou-class battleships in Kantai Collection.
Though Haruna and Kirishima (kancolle)|Kirishima were completed on the same day, Haruna is generally considered to have been the third ship of the class due to having been laid down one day earlier.
Character design by Konishi (koconatu), voiced by Touyama Nao.

h4. Appearance
All of the Kongou-class wear a nontraditional miko|modified miko uniform with differently colored hakama short skirt|hakama skirts and thigh boots. They also wear the same signature winged hairband.

Haruna herself has long hair|long black_hair|black or grey hair (with an often forgotten hairclip) and a red hakama|red hakama short skirt|hakama skirt. She refers to herself in the 3rd person and has a warm, humble personality. Unique to her Kai-ni, Haruna has AA guns attached to her boots and cannons painted with dazzle paint|dazzle camouflage stripes.

After her remodel (Kantai Collection)|second remodel was revealed, artists began to draw Haruna with striped panties|panties striped like her dazzle camouflage. Interestingly enough, her "canon":otakomu.jp/archives/255566.html "panties":/posts/2008196 does actually feature vertical stripes.

h4. Seasonal Outfits
Haruna has so far received two seasonal/tie-in CGs in-game. She first received a swimsuit CG, based on the Ichiban Kuji figure in which she wore a white bikini. Within "the game":/posts/3226123, however, the swimsuit is covered by a white sweater|white hooded sweater and white sarong unless she is damaged. Her "second alternate CG":/posts/3452992 was for the mitsukoshi_(department_store)|mitsukoshi tie-in; in which she wears a white jacket, black shirt, long skirt|long grey skirt, black legwear|black pantyhose, and black footwear|black boots. In her shopping CG, she also wears an anchor necklace.

Her famous line "Haruna is alright!" has earned her the nickname "daijoubu" and its own pool: pool #9955
