The Republic of Turkey is a country located at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, largely based in Asia Minor. Born a secular country out of the ashes of the [[Ottoman Empire]], and technically still so. The people there are not Arabic, but Turkish. In January 2022 the Turkish government began to publicly express they will seek that the UN formally change their English name to the Republic of Türkiye to better reflect their heritage and avoid association with the [[Turkey|bird]], or as critics suggest it's to avoid the association of the other meaning for the word turkey in English. h4.
