A hazelnut-cocoa spread manufactured by the Italian confectionery Ferrero SpA. Developed in the early 1960s, it's based on an earlier Piedmontese confection called [i]gianduja[/i], which was developed to use hazelnuts to extend limited cocoa supplies during Napoleon's domination of the European economy in the early 19th century.
