A book later adapted into an award-winning miniseries about Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the American [[101st Airborne]] Division during [[World War II]] in the European theater. Stephen E. Ambrose wrote the book in 1992, with the miniseries adaption airing on HBO in 2001 with producers including Ambrose, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. The cast included Damian Lewis as lead character Major Richard "Dick" Winters and David Schwimmer as Easy Company's antagonistic initial commander Captain Herbert Sobel.
