An event where people share their love for some subject (Ex: animecon). A popular event at anime conventions is the selling of [[doujins]] by various authors at the author’s respective tables, so if the image shows a table with doujins stacked on it, the author sitting on one side, and people lining up to buy them from the other side, the setting of the image is probably a convention.
