A unicorn-like auspicious creature in Chinese mythology. Usually appears as a mix of an eastern dragon, a horse, and a deer. The creature's name transliterates to "kirin" in Japanese, "girin"/"kirin" in Korean, and "kì lân"/"kỳ lân" in Vietnamese; these terms are also used in their respective languages to refer to the common giraffe. Kirin Brewery uses this creature for the company name and logo illustration. (Some of Kirin's soft drinks don't use this logo, though.) Both qilins and kirin (Final Fantasy)s appear in Square's Final Fantasy XI, but their shapes are far different from the original folklore. h4.
