V1 Justin Bailey is a descriptor used to specify versions of [[Samus Aran]] with [[green hair]] and wearing a pink swimsuit or bikini type outfit.

In the North American release of the first [[Metroid]] game (on the Nintendo Entertainment System), going to the password entry and entering
JUSTIN BAILEY
as the top line, and
------ ------
as the bottom line resulted in spawning as Samus Aran without her armour (appearing to wear a pink swimsuit) and with green hair, as well as all power-ups (this colour palette applied as the [[Varia Suit]] power-up). Completing the game as "Justin Bailey" would result in the bikini image normally reserved for completing the game in under an hour.

Many rumours exist about the meaning of the code, with the most widespread being that a Justin Bailey worked on the game, however no such individual was involved. In truth, as all passwords in the game but one (the NARPAS SWORD code) are encoded 144-bit data fields dynamically generated by the game, the use of the name as a valid password is merely a fluke. The first published reference to the Justin Bailey code was made in the October 1991 issue of Nintendo Power, so it is likely that a player by the same name may have discovered it and submitted the tip to the magazine.
