Wiki History Listing

V1 A prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, [[England]] consisting of a ring of large standing stones surrounding a horseshoe-shaped formation of even larger standing stones. It is aligned in such a way where light from the rising sun of the summer solstice falls in a direct line from one particular stone outside the outer circle to the very center and vice-versa during the setting sun of the winter solstice. Archaeologists firmly believe it was built between 3000 and 2500 BC, but beyond that there is continuing debate over the many theories of how and why it was constructed. Many myths about its building and purpose also exist.
