A toyline launched in 2015 by TakaraTomy, featuring mecha that transform into shinkansen train|trains. A TV anime based on the property aired from 2018 to 2019, and was followed by a film in late 2019. A sequel, Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion Z, began airing in April 2021.

The anime focuses on Hayasugi Hayato, who unintentionally finds out his father is a member of a secret government organization that uses the eponymous mecha to fight kaijuu sent by the Kitoralsus. He becomes the pilot of the E5 Hayabusa (shinkalion)|, and makes friends with other kids who are recruited as pilots alongside him.

The series has also had several official crossovers, including with Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head: Kidou Kyuukyuu Keisatsu, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Hello Kitty, Godzilla (series)|, Duel Masters, and an appearance in Super Robot Wars X-Omega.
