[i][b]Pacific Rim[/b][/i] is a 2013 American [[science fiction]] and [[mecha]] monster film directed by [[Guillermo del Toro]], written by del Toro and Travis Beacham, and starring [[Charlie Hunnam]], [[Idris Elba]], [[Kikuchi Rinko]], Charlie Day, [[Robert Kazinsky]], Max Martini, and Ron Perlman. The film is set in the 2020s, when humanity is under attack by "[[kaijuu|Kaijus]]", colossal [[monster]]s which have emerged from the Pacific Ocean. To combat the creatures, humanity unites to create the [[Jaeger (pacific rim)|]]s: gigantic humanoid [[mecha]], each controlled by two or more pilots whose minds are joined by a neural bridge. A sequel called [[Pacific Rim: Uprising]] was released worldwide in March 2018. An animated series titled [[Pacific Rim: The Black]] was released in 2021.
