Her design and abilities are inspired by the titular character of [[alice (alice in wonderland)|Alice in Wonderland,]] while her personality derives from a spirit of European folklore, who is said to "befriend" misbehaving children by killing them. In the series, she will often ask the player to be her friend by "dying for her." In the [[shin megami tensei i|original Shin Megami Tensei,]] she takes the role of an NPC character; a deceased child who was resurrected by [[nebiros_(megami_tensei)|Nebiros]] and [[Belial_(megami_tensei)|Belial]], aka "Uncle Black" and "Uncle Red." h4.
