Cassidy used to make a name for himself in the notorious Deadlock Gang, but was eventually busted in an Overwatch sting operation. He was given the choice between rotting in a maximum-security lockup, or joining Blackwatch. He chose the latter, and was under the tutelage of [[reaper_(overwatch)|Gabriel Reyes]]. Formerly named "Jesse McCree" after one of the former developers who was involved in a sexual harassment lawsuit at Blizzard Entertainment.
