V1 鳳翔 ("Flying Phoenix")

Houshou is a light aircraft carrier in Kantai Collection.

She wears a pink kimono top with a navy blue hakama skirt, a tasuki of the same color as her hakama keeps her sleeves out of the way. An archer carrier, she wields a bow and carries a quiver on her back. Her flight deck is attached to her left arm. She has medium-length dark blue hair in a ponytail. She appears to have a slender figure (likely referencing her light carrier class) in contrast to the artist's other carriers (who while fully clothed have very noticeable curves).

Her first Seasonal CG came for New Year 2017 with Houshou wearing a kappougi for end-of-year cleanup and holding a sake bottle to celebrate the new year. Her damaged portrait shows her being drunk with no visible damage besides a smoking smokestack and being reduced to a single arrow.

The very first ship designed and built as an aircraft carrier to be completed [i]*1[/i], she has a personal tag named "Mother of all Aircraft Carriers" (全ての空母の母) with art depicting Houshou with various levels of maternal character. Also known as "O-kan" (お艦) for her maternal character, though this tag is also shared with other doting ships, Ikazuchi being one of them.

Sometimes seen as the proprietress of a bar or a restaurant (as in post #1534528, post #1535094 and post #1555582), stemming from one of Chitose's hourly lines.

*1) The very first aircraft carrier was [i]HMS Argus[/i], built using the hull of an incomplete ocean liner in 1919. HMS Hermes (Azur Lane) was designed and launched earlier but was commissioned later, in 1924, while Houshou was commissioned in 1922.
